MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A suspect was arrested Thursday morning after a stolen vehicle complaint led law enforcement officers on a brief pursuit through Mercer County.
According to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at approximately 8:45 a.m. June 11 at O’Reilly Auto Parts on Courthouse Road.
Within minutes of the report, Athens Police Chief C.T. Lowe spotted the vehicle on U.S. Route 460 and followed it into Bluefield while awaiting the arrival of Mercer County deputies.
Deputies closed in on the vehicle and arrested the suspect without further incident at the Cumberland Road intersection, authorities said.
The stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to its owner.
The sheriff’s department thanked Mercer County 911, the Athens Police Department and the Bluefield Police Department for their assistance during the incident.
