SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – UPDATE 5/14/25 10:57 AM: Summers County Schools Superintendent Dr. Linda Knott has provided an update on the evacuation.
According to Dr. Knott, a bomb threat was called in at Summers County High School Wednesday morning prior to the start of the school day.
Dr. Knott says all students have been evacuated to the old Summers Middle School gym and are being signed out by parents.
Law enforcement is investigating the threat with bomb sniffing dogs and are currently on-site at the old Summers Middle School gym.
Remaining students will return to the school once the school is cleared.

According to a post just before 8 AM Wednesday on the Summers County High School Facebook page, students at the school have been evacuated.
The post states that everyone is safe and that police are present at the school.
The post urges individuals not to come to the school, and that an update will be provided.
Officials have not released the cause of the evacuation at this time.
