SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Summers County Sheriff’s Office has received a $4,000 contribution from West Virginia Sen. Vince Deeds to help fund the purchase of a new drone for the department.
According to the sheriff’s office, Sheriff Justin Faris met with Deeds, who presented the funding in support of the agency’s drone program.
The sheriff’s office said the new drone will enhance its ability to serve the community by improving search and rescue operations, disaster response efforts and criminal investigations.
“We are incredibly grateful to Senator Deeds for his support and investment in public safety,” the sheriff’s office said.
Officials said the department is now $5,000 away from reaching its fundraising goal for the drone project.
The sheriff’s office also thanked community members who have contributed to the effort, saying every donation has helped move the project closer to becoming a reality.
