RUPERT, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A man was caught inside a parked vehicle at a Greenbrier County worksite on Monday afternoon, leading to his arrest for theft.
Deputy S.H. Peacock with the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on May 12, 2025, around 2:22 p.m. regarding a man reportedly breaking into a worker’s car at the Marvel Center on Cranberry Avenue.
Upon arrival, Deputy Peacock detained the suspect, identified as Brandon Robinson, inside the facility. A search of Robinson turned up four $20 bills in his pocket. The victim, Connie Chester, and a witness, Tanjela Bennett, told authorities they spotted Robinson rifling through Chester’s car, which had been left unlocked.
According to statements, Robinson returned $68 in cash and a $10 lottery ticket after being confronted. Chester also claimed the four $20 bills found on the suspect belonged to her.
When questioned, Robinson claimed he mistook the car for his grandmother’s, saying she drove a similar vehicle and was supposed to start working at the location, though employees said they were unaware of any new hires.
Robinson was taken into custody.
