On April 10, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Patrolman D.A. Buchanan was on routine patrol in the Hanover area of Wyoming County when he encountered a man later identified as Jonathon Kyle Walker walking away from the spillway parking area. The officer reported that Walker appeared visibly nervous upon making eye contact.
Moments later, a group of individuals approached the officer, pointing toward Walker and claiming he had just attempted to rob them. The officer activated emergency lights and turned around to pursue Walker, who then fled on foot.
According to the report, the officer briefly lost sight of the suspect near a corner and initiated a foot search of the area. Due to multiple possible escape routes and the suspect’s head start, Walker was not immediately located.
Witnesses at the scene told the officer they had discovered Walker inside their vehicle after one of them returned to change a baby. The individuals said they saw someone inside the vehicle they had just exited and confronted him. Walker allegedly hid underneath the vehicle before crawling to others nearby.
One of the victims reportedly pulled Walker out from under a vehicle, leading to a brief altercation before he fled the area.
Authorities said Walker had been going through wallets and compartments inside the vehicle, but nothing appeared to be stolen. Items including money, phones, and a firearm were still accounted for, according to the victims.
The incident remains under investigation.
