LINCOLN COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been confirmed dead following an incident involving a West Virginia State Trooper on Wednesday night.
Details remain scarce regarding the exact nature of the incident at the time of writing, though unconfirmed sources indicate that a State Trooper was stabbed in the neck and that a suspect was shot in the Ranger area of Lincoln County following an unspecified altercation.
The Chapmanville Fire Department confirmed the condition of both the suspect and trooper, though did not provide details regarding the situation leading to their respective conditions.
“Thoughts and Prayers going out to the West Virginia State Police in Lincoln County West Virginia tonight,” said the Chapmanville Fire Department in a statement. “We have been told that the Trooper is in stable but serious condition and the suspect is deceased.”
No identifying information with respect to either the suspect or trooper was provided aside from indication that the trooper involved was a male.
West Virginia State Senator and Attorney General candidate, Mike Stuart addressed the situation on Wednesday night, offering prayers and condolences to the trooper involved as well as the trooper’s family.
“Another terrible assault on a law enforcement officer. This time in Lincoln County. I’m being told a trooper was stabbed in the neck,” said Stuart. “I have been told that the attacker is dead. Please say a prayer this evening for the full recovery of this law enforcement officer.”
