SOPHIA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Multiple emergency response crew were dispatched on Thursday to the Sophia Dollar General where a compact SUV was driven through the wall of the storefront and into the building itself.
According to the Coal City Volunteer Fire Department, on Thursday January 11, 2024, at around 2:30pm hours, units were dispatched to the Dollar General on West Main Street in Sophia to assist Sophia Area Volunteer Fire Department in a reported incident of a vehicle vs. building with injuries.
The scene also saw responses from Sophia City Volunteer Fire Department, Sophia Police Department, Coal City Fire Department Ambulance, Best Ambulance, and Speedy Wrecker.
Injuries were confirmed to have been sustained as a result of the incident, though the extent of the injuries and number of people injured is unclear at the time of writing.
It is unknown how or why the Subaru Forrester involved was ultimately driven into the establishment, and no arrests have been reported as a result of the incident.
