RAINELE, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A night of underage drinking turned violent in Rainelle early Saturday morning, leading to the arrest of an 18-year-old woman after she allegedly assaulted multiple people — including sheriff’s deputies.
According to the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department, deputies B. Mitchell and J. Doss responded to a disturbance on Pennsylvania Avenue around 1:12 a.m. on June 14. The caller reported that Emma Brandstetter had snuck alcohol into the home, become belligerent, and physically assaulted others at the scene.
The complainant, the mother of a juvenile identified as L.B., told deputies that her daughter’s friends had tried to calm Emma down after she reportedly hit a male named Zackary Jenkins and bit L.B. The group then left the residence and called 911.
When deputies arrived, they found Brandstetter asleep on a couch and difficult to wake. Upon being awakened, she charged at a deputy, attempting to strike him. Deputies subdued her and placed her in handcuffs after she kicked and attempted to punch them.
Brandstetter initially gave deputies a false name and age, claiming to be 15. However, after transporting her to Chestnut Street, her grandmother confirmed she had just turned 18 on April 7.
While en route to Southern Regional Jail, Brandstetter slipped her hobble restraint and kicked Deputy Doss in the head, prompting deputies to apply additional restraints to prevent further assaults.
Meanwhile, statements collected from witnesses confirmed that Brandstetter had bit and kicked L.B., and had punched and kicked Zackary Jenkins during the altercation.
Brandstetter faces multiple charges including battery, assault on law enforcement, providing false information to police, and underage alcohol possession. She is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail.
