FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Cornelio A. Reyes, 29, of Terrell, Texas, was sentenced to prison on June 2, 2025, for a series of crimes including burglary, destruction of property, and domestic assault, according to Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney Anthony Ciliberti, Jr.
Reyes was sentenced by Circuit Judge Thomas K. Fast to one to fifteen years in prison for felony burglary, one year in jail for misdemeanor destruction of property, and six months in jail for misdemeanor domestic assault.
The sentences will run consecutively, meaning Reyes must serve at least one year and nine months before he is eligible for parole.
The charges stem from an incident on June 30, 2024, when law enforcement responded to a trespassing call at a residence on Summerlee Road in Oak Hill.
Reyes, who is the father of young children living at the home, had been denied entry due to his intoxicated state.
Initially agreeing to go to Plateau Medical Center to sober up, Reyes left the hospital shortly after arriving and returned to the home.
Upon returning, Reyes forced his way inside by breaking down the back door. Once inside, he reportedly argued with the residents and caused extensive damage to the interior walls.
His actions led the occupants to fear for their safety.
The case was investigated by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and prosecuted by Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jennifer D. Crane.
