WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – Strong storms moving across West Virginia Sunday night are leaving thousands without electricity across the state, according to the latest outage data.
As of the most recent update, about 3,972 customers are without power statewide. More than 1 million customer accounts are being tracked by utility providers.
FirstEnergy reported 2,298 customers without power Sunday night, accounting for roughly 0.42% of the utility’s West Virginia customers. Appalachian Power Company reported 1,674 outages, or about 0.37% of its tracked customers.
Hancock County reported the highest number of outages in the state with 1,266 customers affected. Summers County followed with 794 outages, while Logan County reported 720 customers without electricity.
Other counties with notable outages included Boone County with 305 outages, Clay County with 270, Raleigh County with 151, Jackson County with 86 and McDowell County with 60.
Utility crews are continuing to respond as storms move through the region Sunday night.
