WILLIAMSON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Three individuals were arrested for animal cruelty in Mingo County Thursday after multiple severely malnourished dogs were discovered by authorities.
Mingo County Magistrate Court documents indicate that on Thursday, November 14, 2024, animal control officers were dispatched to a Varney residence in response to complaints to the Mingo County Sheriff’s Office regarding neglected animals on the property.
Upon arriving at the residence, animal control officers observed four dogs chained up with almost no mobility and no access to food or water. The sheriff’s office was contacted for assistance once animal control confirmed conditions of neglect and abuse initially indicated by reports.
Mingo County Deputies arrived at the evidence and noted the extremely poor conditions in which the animals were being kept. Responding officers made contact with Tereasa Robinette and her husband Mike Robinette who indicated that three of the animals belonged to an individual identified as Marshal Mathews.
Running a criminal history check, officers discovered that Mike Robinette was the subject of an active arrest warrant for Brandishing a Deadly Weapon and Domestic Battery. Officers additionally noted a green leafy substance in the residence identified by Teresa Robinette as marijuana.
Both Teresa Robinette and Mike Robinette were placed under arrest by deputies on four counts of Animal Cruelty in Mingo County while Teresa Robinette also received a Simple Possession charge.
While the animals were being seized by Animal Control, Marshal Mathews arrived at the residence. When questioned, Mathews confirmed that three of the dogs were under his ownership. Marhsal Mathews was subsequently placed under arrest and was charged with four counts of Animal Cruelty.
