WESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Three men have been arrested following the theft of more than $21,000 worth of jewelry from the Walmart Supercenter in Weston during flood cleanup operations, according to the West Virginia State Police.
Trooper J.E. Coffman of the West Virginia State Police Weston Detachment responded Sunday, July 26, to a reported theft at the store.
The investigation determined that Walmart had hired outside contractor JCSA Services to perform flood-related cleanup following recent flooding. During the cleanup efforts, approximately $21,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from a secured jewelry display case.
As a result of the investigation, Deivis Diaz, 23, and Daniel Ramirez, 27, were arrested and charged with grand larceny and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Investigators also arrested Oscar Hernandez, 37, charging him with petit larceny in connection with a separate theft.
State Police said investigators recovered a portion of the stolen jewelry during the arrests.
Authorities also determined that all three men were in the United States unlawfully and placed them on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers. ICE has been notified and is expected to begin removal proceedings.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to State Police.
