FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Town of Fayetteville has announced the passing of a former recorder, mayor, and councilman.
According to town officials, Dennis Hanson served the town as an elected official for many years but gave so much more, above and beyond his elected positions.
Dennis served on the Town Council, then was elected Recorder in 1985-1987.
He was then elected Mayor from 1987-1989.
Dennis came back to serve on the Fayetteville Town Council in 2011-2015. He then served as Mayor from 2015-2019.
Dennis was a U.S. Army Veteran, an active member of the Fayetteville Lions Club, and a member of the Fayetteville Presbyterian Church.
“The Town of Fayetteville would like to thank the family for his service to our Country and our Town not only for his elected terms but for his volunteer service to our community,” the town said in a statement.
