BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A late-night traffic stop in Beckley led to the seizure of a large amount of fentanyl and the arrest of two Ohio men early Friday morning.
According to police, officers conducted a traffic stop around 1:38 a.m. on March 6, 2026, in the 1900 block of Harper Road after spotting a Chrysler Pacifica with New York registration speeding.
During the stop, officers reported observing indicators that led them to deploy a K-9 unit. Police say K-9 Vito, handled by PFC Cline, conducted a sniff around the exterior of the vehicle and gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics.
A search of the vehicle and its occupants allegedly uncovered 445.36 grams of fentanyl, a small amount of cocaine, and $3,500 in cash.
Authorities say the amount of fentanyl seized is potentially lethal to more than 225,000 people and has an estimated street value of approximately $90,000.
The driver, Adam Gray Jr., and passenger Cornell Alquist Stevenson, both of Cleveland, Ohio, were arrested and charged with multiple drug-related offenses.
Both men are currently being held at the Southern Regional Jail while awaiting arraignment.
Police say PFC Brown and PFC Cline were assisted during the stop by Lt. Webb and PFC Winnell.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
