POCAHONTAS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Emergency officials are urging motorists to use caution as numerous trees and utility lines have been reported down across Pocahontas County amid severe storms moving through the area Monday.
Pocahontas County Homeland Security and Emergency Management said numerous trees have fallen throughout the county, with many involving utility lines.
Officials warned residents to never approach or attempt to move a downed power line and to assume all downed lines are live and dangerous.
Motorists should also watch for trees, limbs and other debris blocking or partially blocking roadways.
Residents who must travel are being asked to slow down, remain alert and give emergency responders, road crews and utility crews plenty of room to safely clear hazards and make repairs.
Severe storms have been moving across portions of West Virginia Monday, bringing the potential for damaging winds, heavy rainfall and additional downed trees and power lines.
