CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Kanawha County Commission and Indian Lake Fish Hatchery are scheduled to release a thousand pounds of rainbow trout into the Elk River and Blue Creek this Friday, Niv. 12, according to an announcement from the commission.
Friday’s release will complete the second trout stocking for the year and the final stock for 2021, the commission added.
Commission President Kent Carper said, “We are proud to continue the tradition of enriching the lives of our citizens through outdoor recreation in Kanawha County. The pandemic has reminded all of us of the importance of having fun and safe outdoor activities for our communities to enjoy.”
Commissioner Ben Salango added, “We are thrilled to once again work with our local partner, Indian Lake Fish Hatchery, and to have another successful trout stock in 2021. It is our hope to see plenty of fishermen out enjoying the Elk this weekend.”
Commissioner Lance Wheeler noted, “Kanawha County is delighted to continue stocking the Elk River and Blue Creek. We encourage everyone to share your catch on Facebook or Instagram with the #KCFISHESELK21, and to tag Kanawha County.”
