CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Friday, March 4th, the Kanawha County Commission and Indian Lake Fish Hatchery will release 1,250 pounds of rainbow trout into the Elk River and Sanderson, according to an announcement from the county commission.
In addition, Cabela’s has partnered with the Town of Clendenin to offer a $700 gift card for the first tagged fish caught and multiple other small prizes.
Commission President Kent Carper said, “Outdoor recreation is as important as ever to the people of Kanawha County. We are proud to continue this tradition to provide fun and safe activities for children and families as we continue to battle the Covid-19 pandemic.”
Commissioner Ben Salango added, “Kanawha County is thrilled to continue stocking the Elk River. We encourage everyone to share your catch publicly on Facebook with #FishKanawhaCounty.”
Commissioner Lance Wheeler noted, “We are excited to once again work with our local partner, Indian Lake Fish Hatchery, and to kick off 2022 with a larger stock. It is important for all people in Kanawha County to enjoy the great outdoors!”
