WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald Trump is set to discuss the possibility of suspending or canceling U.S. military aid to Ukraine, according to a report by The New York Times.
The discussions come after a tense White House meeting Friday between Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The exchange reportedly ended with Zelenskyy being asked to leave the White House.
Trump and Vance reportedly accused the Ukrainian leader of being disrespectful during talks focused on ending the ongoing war with Russia.
Zelenskyy had been expected to sign a minerals deal with the U.S. before the dispute occurred.
Later that day, The Washington Post reported that the Trump administration was considering halting all military aid shipments to Ukraine, which amount to approximately $5.5 billion in radars, vehicles, ammunition, and missiles currently awaiting delivery.
Following his departure from Washington, Zelenskyy traveled to London, where he participated in a European leaders’ summit over the weekend.
The United Kingdom and France have since pledged to form a “coalition of the willing” to push for a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia, The New York Times reported.
However, it remains unclear whether Trump would support such an effort.
A source told The New York Times that Trump plans to meet with top aides Monday to discuss the fate of U.S. military aid to Ukraine.
