MARTINSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two people have been arrested after an individual overdosed at a motel.
According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department, on August 15, 2024, at approximately 2:26 PM, Deputy Webb responded to a call for assistance from medics at the APM Inn and Suites on McMillan Court, Martinsburg.
The call was in reference to a suspected drug overdose.
Upon arrival, Deputy Webb spoke with witnesses, one of whom reported seeing the overdose victim attempting to contact the occupants of a motel room.
After receiving no response, the victim met with two individuals outside the motel, identified as 42-year-old Kassandra Brown and 37-year-old Eric Wattier.
Shortly after a reported hand-to-hand transaction between the overdose victim and Wattier, the victim experienced a drug overdose, requiring EMS to administer Narcan.
Deputy Webb and Lieutenant Schoppert proceeded to the motel room to speak with Wattier and Brown.
During the conversation, deputies heard the sound of water flushing and suspected that drugs were being disposed of.
Upon entering the room, Lieutenant Schoppert observed Kassandra Brown in the shower, with clear evidence of drugs and paraphernalia in the tub near the drain.
A search warrant was promptly obtained, and a thorough search of the motel room was conducted by Lieutenant Schoppert, Sergeant Ennis, Deputy Kolb, and Deputy Webb.
During the search, deputies discovered evidence consistent with drug distribution, including six prepackaged bags of suspected narcotics and an additional bag containing the same substance.
In total, 31 grams of narcotics were seized.
Further investigation revealed that Kassandra Brown was a fugitive from justice out of Washington County, Maryland.
Both Brown and Wattier were arrested and transported to Eastern Regional Jail, where they await arraignment on charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance.
