RANDOLPH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One woman has been arrested after causing bodily injury to an elderly relative and depriving her of physical care.
According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at approximately 1:35 PM, a welfare check led to the arrest of a woman in Randolph County.
The Randolph County 911 Center received a report concerning an elderly resident in the Beverly area, prompting a response from local authorities.
Deputy J. Wolfe from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene and spoke with the elderly woman, who alleged she had been involved in an altercation with a family member living in a nearby camper.
The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Cassie Lynn Pell, was accused of abusing and neglecting the elderly victim, causing bodily injury and depriving her of essential physical care.
Following statements from both parties, Deputy Wolfe contacted Adult Protective Services.
A criminal complaint was filed against Ms. Pell, leading to a warrant for her arrest on charges of Elder Abuse and Neglect Causing Bodily Injury, a felony.
Ms. Pell was subsequently taken into custody and is currently at Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $15,000 cash-only bond.
