MINGO COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – In the early morning hours of Saturday, June 28, 2025, law enforcement officers executed a drug-related search warrant that led to the arrest of two individuals following a brief foot chase near Breeden Creek.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., Trooper J.L. Marcum, along with members of the West Virginia State Police and the Mingo County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a search at a residence located at 6765 Breeden Creek Road in the Breeden area.
As officers approached, two men fled the property toward a creek behind the home. Trooper Marcum spotted one man, later identified as Johnathan Pack, wearing a dark shirt and shorts, hiding in thick vegetation near the creek bank. When officers attempted to arrest him, Pack reportedly resisted. Trooper D.E. Vance assisted in restraining and taking him into custody.
During a search, officers found a clear plastic container with a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana in Pack’s shorts pocket.
The second man, identified as William Brewer, was also located along the creek bank, hiding behind a wooden dog kennel. He was detained without further incident. A warrant check revealed Brewer had an active Capias warrant for his arrest.
Following the incident, Pack was charged with fleeing on foot, obstructing an officer, and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance. Brewer was charged with fleeing and obstructing an officer.
Both men were transported to the Mingo County holding facility to await further legal proceedings.
