BERKELEY COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two people were arrested Thursday, December 11, following a multi-agency drug enforcement operation at a residence in Martinsburg, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, Martinsburg Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, and the West Virginia State Police K-9 unit conducted an arrest and search operation at a home located at 35 Gall Drive.
Authorities said the search was carried out under a West Virginia state-issued search warrant obtained after a joint investigation involving the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, ATF and Martinsburg Police Department.
As a result of the operation, Samantha R. Gilroy, 47, and Thomas Clay Rutherford, 42, were arrested. Gilroy was taken into custody at a separate location on outstanding warrants related to narcotics offenses.
Rutherford was arrested at the Gall Drive residence on an outstanding warrant for probation violations connected to felony narcotics charges.
During the search of the residence, investigators seized U.S. currency, approximately 86 grams of suspected methamphetamine, about five grams of suspected fentanyl, two handguns, an extended magazine, and ammunition.
Officials said additional narcotics and firearm-related charges are pending against Rutherford based on evidence gathered during the investigation and execution of the search warrant.
