MONONGALIA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 21-year-old and 19-year-old are dead following a crash in West Virginia.
According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, they are continuing their investigation of a motor vehicle accident that transpired on January 3, 2024, near the 149-mile marker on Interstate 79.
Identified as victims in the accident are Zaquan George, 21, and Margaret Erdie, 19, both residents of Morgantown, who lost their lives.
The investigation is actively underway, led by the efforts of the Sheriff’s Office.
The original incident occurred on January 3, 2024, at approximately 7:19 am, prompting the dispatch of Monongalia County Sheriff’s Deputies to Interstate 79, near the 149-mile marker.
The aftermath of the collision resulted in two confirmed fatalities, and two individuals were promptly transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital for medical attention.
Interstate 79 was temporarily closed for approximately 5 hours to facilitate emergency response and investigative procedures.
Mon. County Sheriff Perry Palmer emphasizes that this remains an ongoing investigation.
