CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia approved two shared solar power projects on Monday.
On March 6, 2024, Appalachian Power Co. and Wheeling Power Co. petitioned the Commission for authority to enter into three solar renewable energy projects in Virginia. The companies eliminated one of those projects on October 3, 2024
The Commission approved:
–Elliot Solar, a 5-megawatt solar facility located in Tazewell County, Virginia, with an expected commercial operations date in late 2025.
–County Line Solar, a 150-MW solar facility located in Charlotte County, Virginia, with an expected commercial operations date in late 2026.
Another project, 7 Bridges Solar, an 80-MW solar facility located in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, was withdrawn on October 10, 2024.
The estimated gross revenue requirement for a first-rate year that assumes all three facilities were in service was $17.3 million, offset by $15.9 million of cost of service reductions, for a net estimated revenue requirement impact of approximately $1.3 million, the companies said in their filing.
