BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – In the wake of the recent flooding, United Way of Southern West Virginia activated its Disaster Response and Recovery Fund to provide support to communities affected by the storm.
The Disaster Response and Recovery Fund will help the local United Way meet urgent flood-related needs and aid in the long-term recovery process across the hardest hit regions.
“We are heartbroken to learn of the loss and damage to our community. Southern West Virginia is resilient and this fund will allow us to unite resources and respond quickly, ensuring that those in need receive critical assistance.”, said Trena Dacal, Executive Director of United Way of Southern West Virginia.
To donate to the United Way of Southern West Virginia Disaster Recovery Fund, visit unitedwayswv.org. All donations will support relief efforts, and any unspent funds will be reserved for recovery efforts.
“West Virginia is known for its generosity and willingness to help in crises,” Dacal said. “Every donation, of any amount, can make a significant impact in restoring these communities.”
United Way of Southern WV will also accept donations to address the immediate clean-up response. Bleach, buckets, trash bags, brooms, shovels, rakes, gloves, mops, water, and non-perishable food will be accepted at 110 Croft Street, Beckley. *Clothing is not accepted.*
