UPSHUR COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Upshur County Schools has welcomed a new school resource officer.
The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office is proud to introduce Danny C. Sears as the new Prevention Resource Officer (PRO) for the Upshur County Elementary Schools.
Danny has been a resident of Upshur County since 1990.
He is a native of Harrison County and a graduate of Liberty High School.
He and his wife, Nancy Sears have three daughters: two of whom are employed by the Upshur County Board of Education as well as two sons-in-law employed by the UC BOE; one daughter and her significant other are both nurses.
In addition, Danny has five grandchildren attending various schools in Upshur County with a step-grandchild attending school in Barbour County and another at Marshall University.
Danny has previously coached Upshur County Youth Softball.
He has been a past President of the East Main PTO and past President of Pop Warner Football/Cheerleading.
He has been involved in various additional capacities relating to Upshur County youth sports.
Danny is a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
He is a retired West Virginia State Police (WVSP) Officer having served in Romney, Elkins, Buckhannon, Charlestown, and back to Elkins retiring as a Troop 3 Executive Officer (XO).
After retiring from the WVSP, he worked as a Criminal Investigator for the West Virginia Tax Department, Fraud Investigator for the West Virginia Insurance Commission, Chief of Security for the West Virginia Military Authority at the USPFO in Buckhannon, and Security Supervisor for the Upshur County Courthouse.
