WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that it is now accepting applications for grants designed to help agricultural producers and farmers expand their market opportunities and increase revenue.
The funding is available through the Value-Added Producer Grants (VAPG) program, which supports farmers and ranchers in developing new products, creating marketing opportunities, and boosting income through value-added activities.
Grant Details
USDA plans to distribute approximately $30 million in fiscal year 2025 through the VAPG program. Grants are available for two primary purposes:
- Planning Activities: Applicants may receive up to $75,000 to fund feasibility studies and develop business plans.
- Working Capital Expenses: Applicants may receive up to $250,000 for costs associated with producing and marketing value-added agricultural products, including processing, advertising, inventory, and salaries.

Eligible applicants include:
- Independent agricultural producers
- Agricultural producer groups
- Farmer or rancher cooperatives
- Majority-controlled producer-based business ventures

The USDA is particularly seeking applications that align with its key priorities:
- Climate Resilience: Projects that reduce climate pollution and increase resilience to climate change, while economically supporting rural communities.
- Equity: Ensuring equitable access to USDA Rural Development programs and benefits.
- Economic Recovery: Helping rural communities recover economically by creating better market opportunities and improving infrastructure.
