FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Virginia man has been sentenced for a felony drug crime in Fayette County.
Anthony Ciliberti, Jr., Prosecuting Attorney, announces that on February 9, 2024, Tommy J. Strothers, age 38, of Meadows of Dan, Virginia, was sentenced to prison by Circuit Judge Paul M. Blake, Jr. to ten (10) years in prison for the felony offense of conspiracy.
Strothers must serve two (2) years and six (6) months in prison before being eligible for parole.
Upon serving his sentence in West Virginia, Strothers will be returned to the Commonwealth of Virginia as he has pending felony drug and weapons charges in Virginia.
On July 21, 2022, a member of the Fayetteville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on U.S. Route 19 as the vehicle was traveling at a speed of 64 m.p.h. in an area posted for 50 m.p.h.
Upon making contact with the driver, Joshua A. Moore, the officer noticed drug paraphernalia sitting in the console.
The officer also noted two passengers in the vehicle, Jessica L. Roop and Tommy J. Strothers. During a search of the vehicle, officers located suspected controlled substances, multiple sets of digital scales, and packaging materials.
Subsequent laboratory testing confirmed that Moore, Roop, and Strothers were in possession of over 35 grams of methamphetamine and approximately half a gram of fentanyl.
This case was investigated by the Fayetteville Police Department.
