(LOOTPRESS) – Waffle House customers will now have to shell out a little extra for their breakfast favorites. The popular 24-hour diner chain has introduced a 50-cent surcharge on eggs at all of its locations nationwide.
The additional charge, which appears on receipts as an “egg surcharge,” was quietly rolled out and has since been confirmed by company representatives. Waffle House has not provided an official statement on the reasoning behind the increase, but rising food costs and supply chain challenges may be contributing factors.
Customers have taken to social media to express their reactions, with some understanding the price adjustment and others questioning the need for an extra fee rather than a direct menu price increase.
Waffle House, known for its affordable comfort food and no-frills dining experience, has over 1,900 locations across the United States. The chain has made occasional price adjustments over the years but remains a go-to spot for budget-friendly meals.
It remains to be seen whether the egg surcharge is a temporary measure or a long-term pricing strategy.
