FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation is responding to a water shortage at Mount Olive Correctional Facility caused by operational issues with the local Public Service Districts supplying the facility.
In response to the shortage, health and safety measures have been put in place to protect both inmates and staff.
These include bringing in portable potable water tanks for cooking, distributing bottled water, setting up portable handwashing and shower stations, and maintaining close coordination with water providers.
“We have health and safety protocols in place to ensure the well-being of those entrusted to our care,” said David Kelly, Commissioner of the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
“Our staff is actively coordinating with local partners and bringing in necessary resources while the Public Service District and West Virginia American Water work to resolve the operational issues affecting water supply.”
The Division says it will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
