LOGAN COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Logan County couple is facing charges following an investigation that began with an anonymous tip to Child Protective Services.
Joshua Allen Moore, 35, and Tiffany Leigh Moore, 33, were arrested on April 21 after Logan County Sheriff’s Deputy C.R. Rosser responded to a CPS request for assistance.
The agency had received a report that the couple was allegedly locking their autistic daughter in a room where she was smearing feces on the walls and mattress.
When authorities arrived at the residence, they found a door in the kitchen secured with a padlock.
The Moores told officers they did not have a key to unlock the door. A third party later arrived with a key, allowing CPS and Deputy Rosser access to the room.
Inside, officials discovered what appeared to be human feces smeared by hand on the walls and mattress. The room was described as unlivable.
Photos were taken by Deputy Rosser, who also documented the scene using a department-issued body camera.
The Moores claimed they were unaware of the condition of the room and stated that it was an old, unused space.
Both were taken into custody and transported to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, where they were processed, read their Miranda rights, and interviewed by Deputy J.G. Mullins.
They have been charged with Child Neglect Resulting in Injury and Maltreatment of a Disabled Child.
Joshua Moore is being held at Southwestern Regional Jail on a $2,500 bond, while Tiffany Moore is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
