“This Day of Mourning will allow judicial officers and employees to take time to celebrate Tim’s life, to express our deepest condolences to his family, and to reflect upon and honor his remarkable service to our state.”
Services for Justice Armstead will be held Tuesday in the House of Delegates Chamber at the State Capitol. Public visitation is scheduled from 3 to 6 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m.
The administrative order issued Thursday calls for all judicial offices and employees under the authority of the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia to cease business on Sept. 2.
This includes the Intermediate Court of Appeals and magistrate, family, and circuit court offices statewide.
Chief circuit judges in each judicial circuit have been instructed to ensure access to magistrate court services during the mourning period.
Judges and magistrates may proceed with time-sensitive matters already scheduled if deemed necessary.
Individuals with proceedings scheduled for Sept. 2 are advised to contact the office of the circuit judge, circuit clerk, family court, or magistrate staff to confirm the status of their cases and to determine whether they will be rescheduled.
