WYOMING/MONROE/MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Officials with the West Virginia Division of Forestry reported active brushfires in several West Virginia counties.
A member from the West Virginia Division of Forestry’s Radio Room confirmed brush fires at Coal Mountain and RD Bailey Lake in Wyoming County, a brushfire in the Iaeger area in McDowell County and another brushfire in the Hope’s Mill area of Monroe County. The total acreage for the brushfires is estimated at 250 acres according to reports from the WVDOF.
Monroe County is currently the only brush fire with containment lines as WVDOF employees continue to fight the brushfires at the other locations. RD Bailey has employees fighting the brushfire in their area alongside the WVDOF employees. Volunteer fire departments are assisting WVDOF employees in the Monroe County brushfire.
A wind advisory was set for Wednesday, March 20, 2024, raising concerns for high winds carrying brushfires.
