CLARKSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Marion County man has been sentenced to more than nine years in federal prison for selling a powerful synthetic opioid in northern West Virginia.
Darrel Keith McHoney, 55, of Fairmont, was sentenced Thursday to 110 months in prison after pleading guilty to selling para-fluorofentanyl in Marion and Harrison counties.
He will also serve three years of supervised release following his prison term.
According to court records, McHoney sold both para-fluorofentanyl and heroin.
During a search of his home, investigators found more than 100 grams of para-fluorofentanyl, a loaded firearm magazine, and various items of drug paraphernalia.
McHoney has a prior criminal history that includes attempted robbery and drug trafficking.
The case was investigated by the Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, part of the federally funded High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program.
Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh handed down the sentence.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Cogar prosecuted the case.
