LOGAN COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – U.S. Marshals arrested Johnny Matthew Jones, 35, of Lake, West Virginia, on December 12, following a multi-agency manhunt.
The arrest took place at approximately 1:45 p.m. at a residence on Contrary Hollow Road in Jenkins, Kentucky.
Jones was wanted in Logan County on multiple felony charges, including malicious wounding, strangulation, third-offense domestic battery, and using and presenting a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The charges stem from an alleged domestic dispute involving a 25-year-old female victim.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Jones reportedly struck the victim in the head, face, neck, and chest with blunt objects, causing serious injuries.
He is also accused of briefly strangling the victim and stealing her 9mm pistol and 2022 Ford F-150 before fleeing the state.
The victim was hospitalized for her injuries.
Authorities considered Jones armed and dangerous. He reportedly changed his appearance by shaving his beard and altering the vehicle to evade capture.
The U.S. Marshals Service Southern District of West Virginia CUFFED Task Force, the Central Kentucky Fugitive Task Force, and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation.
The Kentucky State Police also assisted in the arrest.
Jones is being held in Kentucky while awaiting extradition to West Virginia.
