CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the West Virginia Department of Human Services (DoHS), Bureau for Behavioral Health (BBH), is spotlighting vital mental health services available to residents across the state. The campaign will also emphasize Children’s Mental Health Acceptance Week, observed May 5–11, 2025, to draw attention to the importance of youth mental health support.
“Mental health support is vital to overall well-being, and it’s crucial that we support all West Virginians, including children, in accessing the resources they need,” said Christina Mullins, Deputy Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders.
The DoHS urges families and individuals to take advantage of the many mental health services offered in West Virginia, including:
-
Help4WV – A confidential helpline for those struggling with mental health or substance use issues.
-
Children’s Crisis and Referral Help Line – Immediate support for kids in crisis.
-
WV Wraparound – Family-focused coordination for youth with complex behavioral needs.
-
Regional Youth Service Centers – Crisis and stabilization services for youth across the state.
-
Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) – Accessible care for people of all ages.
-
988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline – 24/7 national support for mental health emergencies.
“Ensuring access to mental health services for all West Virginians, especially children and families in crisis or foster care, is a top priority,” said Nicholas Stuchell, Interim Commissioner of the BBH.
