CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia House of Delegates unanimously passed House Bill 4563 on Friday, approving a measure that would require EZ Pass transponders to be registered to individual licensed drivers rather than specific vehicles.
The bill, introduced by Delegate Eric Brooks, R-Raleigh, passed on a 94-0 vote. It now heads to the West Virginia Senate for consideration.
House Bill 4563 would amend state code to require EZ Passes issued to individual licensed drivers to be transferable among up to five vehicles owned by the same licensee, provided the vehicles fall within the same West Virginia Parkways Authority vehicle class.
Under the legislation, all vehicles involved in a transfer must be enrolled in the EZ Pass program.
Supporters say the change would provide greater flexibility for drivers who own multiple vehicles, allowing them to use a single transponder across eligible vehicles without being restricted to one specific car.
