MADISON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A disturbing investigation is underway after a man allegedly admitted to attempting to poison a woman on multiple occasions, according to a report from the Madison Police Department.
Police say the victim first came forward on March 25, 2026, reporting a possible poisoning incident. During her statement, she told officers that just days earlier—on March 22—she had spoken with the accused, identified as Jason Bragg, at a residence on Hill Street. During that conversation, Bragg allegedly admitted to trying to poison her twice—once using a substance known as “Flakka” and another time using rat poison.
Authorities later located Bragg on March 27 near the river behind the old Ice Plant area and asked him to come to the police department for questioning. He agreed voluntarily and was read his Miranda rights before being interviewed.
During that interview, Bragg reportedly told investigators that several months ago he had been instructed to give the victim a bag he believed contained Flakka, not methamphetamine as it was presented. He claimed he initially refused, but ultimately handed over the substance after being threatened.
Bragg further told police that about two months later, he was given another bag of drugs to deliver to the victim and again complied under what he described as coercion. Roughly two weeks after that, he allegedly overheard two individuals discussing the substance and learned it had been laced with rat poison.
The victim also made additional claims, alleging that multiple individuals—including family members—were involved in a plot to kill her as part of an insurance-related scheme.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing. No formal charges have been announced at this time, and all individuals named in the report are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
