LEESBURG, VA (LOOTPRESS) – A West Virginia man is being held without bond after authorities say he seriously injured a juvenile during a basketball game in Leesburg, VA.
According to the Leesburg Police Department, officers began investigating the incident around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at the Ida Lee Park Recreation Center.
Police said a physical altercation broke out during a basketball game, during which a juvenile was struck and suffered serious injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he continues to receive treatment. His condition was not immediately released.
Investigators said the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Jacob Martin of Hedgesville, West Virginia, left the scene before officers arrived. Martin later turned himself in to police and was taken into custody.
Martin has been charged with malicious wounding and is currently being held without bond.
