FAIRLEA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The State Fair of West Virginia kicks off today, Thursday, August 8, 2024, promising a day full of fun and excitement for attendees of all ages.
The gates open bright and early at 8:00 AM, with carnival rides starting at 11:00 AM, and the West Virginia Lottery opening at noon.

Hot Glass Academy: Multiple shows throughout the day, starting at 10:30 AM
Live Shark Encounter Show: 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM, & 5:00 PM
Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show: 11:30 AM, 2:30 PM, & 6:30 PM
Dennis Lee: 12:30 PM, 3:30 PM, & 5:30 PM
Eating Contest – Funnel Cake: 2:30 PM
Butterfly Kingdom: Open all day from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Open Horse Show:
Youth Barrels and Poles: 9:00 AM
Youth Day: 12:00 PM
Youth High School Rodeo: 12:00 PM & 5:00 PM
West Virginia Building Activities:
Christmas Tree Decorating: 10:00 AM
Cooking Demonstrations: 10:00 AM & 2:00 PM
Quick & Easy Beef Dish Competition: 1:00 PM
There will also be a performance by the Turnpike Troubadours at 8:00 PM on the Grandstand.
