MOUNT PLEASANT, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 4-year-old boy in Wisconsin took matters into his own hands last week, dialing 911 after his mother ate his ice cream, police said.
According to the Village of Mount Pleasant Police Department, officers Gardinier and Ostergaard were dispatched for a 911 hang-up call on Tuesday. Upon arrival, they discovered that the young caller had reported his “mom being bad” because she had eaten his dessert.
“A little boy called 911 saying his mom was being bad and needed to go to jail,” the police department said in a statement.
Once officers arrived, the boy changed his mind, telling them he no longer wanted his mom to go to jail—he just wanted some more ice cream.
Recognizing the lighthearted nature of the call, the officers left the home after confirming there was no actual emergency. However, the next day, they returned with a special treat, surprising the child with ice cream to make up for the lost dessert.
The story quickly gained attention, with many on social media finding humor in the boy’s reasoning.
“I’m not saying he’s right, but I understand,” one commenter wrote.
Another added, “At least he knows how to call for help. That could save someone’s life one day!”
The officers even posed for a picture with the boy, showing how the lighthearted situation turned into a fun and positive community interaction.
“I love hearing about our amazing officers creating positive relationships with kids,” another social media user wrote. “Keep the good news coming!”
