BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One woman has been arrested after refusing to leave Papa John’s Pizza in Beckley and lunging her fist at a police officer.
According to a criminal complaint, officers with the Beckley Police Department were dispatched to the Papa John’s location at 3418 Robert C. Byrd Drive in response to a report of an unwanted person.
Upon arrival, officers encountered the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Tara Harbin, standing at the counter inside the restaurant.
Officer L. Smith instructed Harbin to step outside, explaining that management had asked her to leave. Harbin reportedly refused to comply and had to be escorted outside.
Once outside, officers reiterated the request for her to leave the premises. Despite multiple warnings, Harbin ignored their instructions.
At this point, Officer Smith was joined by PFC Parker to assist in the situation.
After several additional warnings, Harbin allegedly refused to cooperate and lunged at Officer Smith with a clenched fist, narrowly missing his face. Officers restrained Harbin and placed her under arrest.
Harbin was transported to the Beckley Police Department for processing. She has been charged with obstructing and assaulting an officer.
She is currently at Southern Regional Jail.
