SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One woman has been arrested after shooting and injuring one person at Kroger in South Charleston.
According to a criminal complaint, on Sunday, May 14, at around 11:05 AM, officers were dispatched to a disturbance at Kroger at Riverwalk Mall in South Charleston after two people were physically fighting.
While en route to the scene officers were informed someone had been shot. Upon arrival at the scene, a Kroger employee was pointing towards Krispy Kreme advising the suspect had fled that way.
Officers located a female matching the description of the suspect near Krispy Kreme. An officer then exited his cruiser and ordered the female suspect at gunpoint to get on the ground and put her hands behind her back. The officer was able to detain the suspect without incident.
While detaining the female she stated, “They jumped me.” Officers then asked her if she had any weapons on her and she stated “It’s in the bag.” She was placed in another officer’s patrol vehicle. A revolver was located in her handbag that had one spent casing in the revolver.
The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Lydia Spencer.
According to one witness, the shooter said “Nah, I gotta kill this b****.” According to multiple other witnesses, three females were in a physical fight and then the females were separated. Spencer then pulled out a revolver and shot an individual who sustained a gunshot wound to the back requiring transport to the hospital for treatment.
Lydia Spencer is being charged with Attempted Murder and Wanton Endangerment. She is currently at South Central Regional Jail on a $250,000 cash-only bond.
