BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A brutal assault involving brass knuckles and a hammer has led to the arrest of a woman in Beckley following a violent encounter on Plumley Avenue.
Beckley Police responded to a call shortly after the assault was reported by a female victim, stating that Owynn Rogers had attacked her while she sat inside her vehicle. Emergency responders located the victim, visibly injured and holding a blood-soaked cloth to the back of her head. Officers observed a deep laceration consistent with blunt force trauma.
According to the victim, Rogers approached her parked vehicle, opened the door, and began striking her repeatedly in the head while wearing brass knuckles. She also stated that Rogers was holding a hammer during the attack. Though EMS arrived on the scene, the victim declined to be transported to the hospital.
A witness corroborated the victim’s account, telling officers she saw Rogers open the car door and strike the victim multiple times before fleeing into a nearby residence at 802 Patch Street.
Officers responded to the home and saw Rogers inside through a window. After several commands to exit the residence, Rogers finally surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.
While being transported for processing, Rogers admitted to striking the victim, but denied using brass knuckles. However, based on the witness statements, visible injuries, and the reported use of weapons, Rogers has been charged with Malicious Assault, a felony offense under West Virginia law.
Rogers was arraigned at the Raleigh County Magistrate’s Office following her arrest.
