PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman faces child neglect charges after seven kids were found living inside a home in deplorable conditions.
According to State Police, on Monday, July 5, 2021, a trooper was called to a home on New Hope Road in Princeton after multiple children called 911. When a trooper arrived, he observed four small children at the door appearing dirty and wearing dirty, sagging diapers. As the trooper went to the front door, someone closed it, and he noticed the porch falling in, nails exposed, rotting food, trash, and fecal material. A neighbor approached the trooper and told him that the mother was Lisa Littleton.
At this time, the trooper went to the back of the house and found trash piled up, a broken rear glass, and the door open that went to a mudroom. One of the children, a three-year-old, was seen carrying a steak knife with a 6-inch blade on it. A 13-year-old juvenile came to the door and said that Lisa was not at home. As the trooper went inside the house, he observed trash, insects crawling, a cat on the counter eating a hot dog bun, and children with fecal matter on various parts of their bodies.
There were seven children total inside the home, and their ages ranged from 2 to 13. The 13-year-old juvenile told police that her mother went to go pay bills with her grandfather. As the trooper made his way through the home, he found mold growing on the walls, holes in the floor that you could see into the basement, rotting wood, and filthy conditions.
The trooper on scene had the 13-year-old contact her mother, and she came home. The suspect, Lisa Littleton, said she had not been living there, and they were just there working on the house. She later admitted they had been there for two weeks but lived with her fiance in Abbs Valley, Virginia. CPS was contacted and determined that the children needed to be removed.
The witness, a neighbor, told the trooper they had been living there for 12 years, and that litter control had been by recently because of all the trash.
Littleton is facing seven counts of child neglect creating the risk of severe injury or death. She is currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 10,000 dollar bond.
