CLARKSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Jalisa Lashae Hawkins, 35, of Duquesne, Pennsylvania, was convicted by a jury today for possession with intent to distribute heroin and fentanyl, according to U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld.
The conviction followed an investigation where law enforcement officers conducted surveillance on a Clarksburg residence after receiving complaints of drug-related activity.
Officers observed Hawkins drive to the residence, engage in a brief interaction, and then leave.
She was later stopped for multiple traffic violations, and during the stop, officers found fentanyl stamps and heroin in her vehicle.
Hawkins now faces a potential sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison.
The final sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge, who will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Brandon Flower and William Rhee.
The investigation was conducted by the Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, part of a HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) initiative, and the Mountaineer Highway Interdiction Team South.
