PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman was injured after an SUV collided with a train in Putnam County on Saturday, according to West Virginia State Police.
The collision occurred around 2:52 p.m. Aug. 8 in the Cross Creek area of the county. Troopers A.D. Smith and T.A. Holley responded to the scene.
State Police said 55-year-old Misty Grady, of Buffalo, was the only person inside the SUV. She was transported by Putnam EMS for injuries that were reported to be non-life-threatening.
A preliminary investigation determined Grady failed to yield to an approaching train, causing the SUV to collide with the front right side of the locomotive, according to State Police.
Investigators said Grady was not believed to have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the collision.
The crash remains under investigation by the West Virginia State Police Winfield Detachment. No additional information was immediately available.
