BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Gubernatorial nominee, Patrick Morrisey returned to Raleigh County on Thursday to address voters and West Virginia Republicans at a fundraising event with the Raleigh County Republican Executive Committee.
Held on Thursday evening at the Historic Black Knight Country Club, the event saw attendance from many state and local leaders including House of Delegates members Eric Brooks, Christopher Toney, and Elliott Pritt, State Senate Members Rollan Roberts and Vince Deeds, Raleigh County Commission President, Greg Duckworth, and others.
Featured as part of the event were dinner and drinks which were made available to guests in attendance, as well as several high-profile speakers, including West Virginia State Senate candidate, Brian Helton, who spoke of the Mountain State and the current state of the nation.
“I’ve been blessed to call West Virginia home my entire life. My family and I, we decided a long time ago that we wanted to stay here in West Virginia – and the reason for that is, to us, there’s no greater place on earth,” said Helton. “Growing up here in Southern West Virginia, I was always taught that values matter. Today, we’re seeing that great truth more than ever as we see the chaos – all the Democrat radical leftist agendas – that are sweeping in our country right now. All of us in this room have to do our part to keep that stuff out of West Virginia.”
Also featured as a guest speaker was Bob Pruitt – Head Football Coach for Marshall University from 1996 to 2004 – who voiced his support for Morrisey in the upcoming Gubernatorial race.
“He fights for West Virginia, and he’s been a champion,” Pruitt said of the GOP nominee. “He’s come here to make a difference; we need to support him.”
Attorney General and Gubernatorial nominee, Patrick Morrisey took to the podium following an introduction from Pruitt, declaring his intention to bring a West Virginia-first mindset to the role of goveror.
“West Virginia deserves good, conservative leadership; limited government based upon the Constitution. That’s my record as Attorney General,” said Morrisey. “I have always thought that the best way to determine how someone’s going to behave in the future is to look at what they’ve done in the past. We have a record that is second to none, and if you like what I’ve done as Attorney General, I think you’re going to love what we’re going to do as governor.”
