CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) is now accepting applications for a controlled waterfowl hunt at the McClintic Wildlife Management Area near Point Pleasant in Mason County. Applications must be submitted online at WVhunt.com by midnight on Aug. 15.
The controlled hunt will take place October 4-12 during the first segment of West Virginia’s waterfowl season. Hunters selected through the lottery will be randomly assigned a hunting day and designated area. There is no fee to participate.
“Controlled hunts like this are an important part of our mission to manage wildlife resources responsibly, while also giving hunters access to high-quality hunting experiences,” said WVDNR Director Brett McMillion.
Successful applicants will be notified by mail by the second week of September. Selected hunters may bring one guest and must report to the McClintic WMA office before 6 a.m. on their assigned hunting day. A shooting station is available for hunters with disabilities.
Hunters not selected in the drawing may sign in at the WMA office the morning of each hunt day to fill any unclaimed shooting stations.
