WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Wyoming County Board of Education has scheduled an emergency meeting for Thursday to appoint an interim superintendent following Superintendent John Henry’s resignation.
According to a meeting notice dated Sept. 28, the board will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Wyoming County Schools Central Office in Pineville.
The only item listed on the agenda is the appointment of an interim superintendent.
The emergency meeting comes after Henry announced his resignation Monday morning during a meeting of the Wyoming County Board of Education. Henry said his resignation will take effect at the end of the day on Oct. 1.
Henry said he is leaving Wyoming County Schools to pursue an opportunity in the private sector. He has served as superintendent since July 1, 2024, after previously working as assistant superintendent of support services.
Henry was selected by the board in January 2024 to succeed former Superintendent Deirdre Cline, who retired after eight years leading the school system.
